Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her early Broadway performances included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh Ashley, Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors and actors both on screen and stage for all of her career. Ashford's next venture will be a limited-edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is it is a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023. He plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This show will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who created Hamilton. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters in the first impeachment proceedings in America for more than 100 years. She was the star of two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford now splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
